Stage 2: SUNDAY 11

Described by the NME as one of “the busiest, buzziest bands” at SXSW 2015, The Parrots is a fresh-from-college young garage-surf trio from Madrid, that’s causing a commotion in the garage-surf-punk scene. NME highlighted them first as Buzz Band of the Week and has kept on championing them after seeing their now legendary live show, and many other international media are following them closely now, with rave reviews on The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Pigeons & Planes, Gold Flake Paint, to name but a few.

After a self-released demo EP in 2013 their first official release was a 7″, recorded in Amsterdam and released in early 2014 via cult indie label from Madrid, Sonido Muchacho.

They went on to record two more tracks with legendary Spanish producer Paco Loco (The Posies, Las Kellies, Hinds, The Sadies, Steve Wynn…) for their second 7″ released in the summer of 2014 via Bachelor Records from Austria (sharing catalogue with such favourites as Black Lips, Dead Ghosts, Hunx, Smith Westerns…).

They played their first US shows in March 2014 at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. In the meantime, Converse used their tracks Gigantic Trees and Dee Dee Dangerous (off the debut 7”) in several street style videos.

With these two singles under their belts, The Parrots became a very buzzing name in Spain, playing all the major cities and festivals, and also touring in France, Portugal, Italy, Holland and the UK. They played an amazing show last year at Le Guess Who? Festival in Utrecht (Holland), right after their first Euro tour, and they have packed every London show they’ve played, from The Social and a sold out Upstairs at The Garage, to The Shacklewell Arms (twice) and The Waiting Room.

In March 2015 they flew back to Austin for SXSW, where they played 9 shows and got raving reviews on the NME amongst others. After SX they flew for more shows in Mexico and Costa Rica, then got back to the US for the Burgerama festival and a few more dates in the West Coast.

2015 saw their first recordings on Burger Records, the perfect home for them: a split 7” with their best friends Hinds and the cassette version of their new EP, which is also released on 10” vinyl and digital worldwide via Luv Luv Luv Records from London (home to Splashh, Spector, The Garden, Fat Whites, and managers of Florence + The Machine).
